Mind-Body Psychotherapy
APPROACH
My deepest aim for sessions is to empower my clients to uncover the wisdom that lies within them. As a strength based focused therapist, I focus on resilience and inner resources as tools to foster growth, improve well-being, and create lasting positive change. To add to my psychotherapy training, I draw on my over thirty years of experience as a certified holistic health practitioner, somatic body worker and practices of mindfulness, yoga, breath-work etc. I have degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy, Critical Race, Gender and Sexuality, Liberal Arts, Dance and I am currently in a PsyD program for Human and Organizational Psychology. I believe in a holistic/ bigger picture approach and that we can not be seen separate from our world. This aproach includes our bio, psycho, social and spiritual factors. I love the term holistic, which just means the belief that the parts of something are interconnected and can only be explained in reference to the whole. All parts of us are intimately intwinedand and it helps to understand how these parts influence each other in order to more fully understand ourselves. I integrate my social studies with my holistic practices to get a more insightful and holistic view of each individual. To borrow a quote from Cornel West, I believe "Justice is what love looks like in public". I also understand the need for cultural humility and I aim to listen deeply to each client. On top of evidence based modalities such as CBT, DBT, IFS, and Narrative, I offer mindfulness/ meditation and many somatic modalities. A list of some of my offerings are on the services page here. If you would like to explore other offerings please contact me through the email below. All first time consultations are free to make sure we are a good fit to work together.
